Beat the heat and downtime with a fun filled session of summer camp at the Glendale YWCA.  Our unplugged and adventurous sessions are two weeks long and will engage your child in body, mind and spirit.  Your child will also benefit from many character and leadership building challenges.  Camp goes from 9 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade.  Each session is $320 (2 weeks) and includes delicious, healthy meals, arts and crafts, athletics, swimming and more.  Campers are welcome to arrive early (7 – 9 AM) and stay late (3 – 6 PM) at no additional charge.  We also offer sibling and multi-session discounts.  We look forward to showing your child the best in activities this summer.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Glendale Youth Orchestra was founded in February 1989.  Originally, GYO consisted of young musicians in the sixth through ninth grades only, an age range when children traditionally become busier with extracurricular activities and often begin to lose interest in studying music.  The Board of Directors, however, expanded the age range in the orchestra&#8217;s succeeding seasons, realizing the numerous benefits of a fuller and more formal orchestral ensemble.  The GYO has since accepted high school and a limited number of junior college musicians.</p>
<p>Auditions for the 2012-2013 Season are being held on Monday, May 22nd and Monday, May 29th. All applicants, are required to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Play the appropriate <a href="http://www.glendaleyouthorchestra.com/musicexcerpts.html">EXCERPTS</a> for the 2011 &#8211; 2012 Season (visit the GYO website)</li>
<li>Play a short solo piece of their choice that best demonstrates their level of achievement, (no accompanist or memorization is necessary)</li>
<li>Sight Read</li>
<li>Play a major or relative harmonic minor scale in any key, (up to 5 sharps or flats)</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Glendale Community College Music Department presents SPRING CONCERT 2012 including performances from the Chamber Singers, Opera Vignettes and the College Choir.</p>
<p>The program includes performances of master works of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Johannes Brahms, Michael Tippett, Johann Strauss II, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giacomo Puccini, and many more selections. The concert also features movements from Gabriel Faure&#8217;s<em> </em><em>Requiem</em> under the direction of Dr. Jayne E. Campbell and accompanied by Gayane Simonyan.</p>

<p>Running time is approximately 2 hours with intermission, and the performance is suitable for all ages. Photo and Video recording by patrons is allowed.</p>
